Brisbane Birds also actively raises money for some of Australia's rarest birds through the sale of specially designed tshirts. In January 2020, Kangaroo Island in South Australia had two thirds of the island burnt by bush fire. Unfortunately this is the last place on Earth the Kangaroo Island Glossy Black Cockatoo lives and prior to the fire there was less than 400 left. Money raised by Brisbane Birds went directly to the K.I. Glossy Black Cockatoo Recovery Program which helped to provide thousands of new SheOak seedlings and replaced articficial nestboxes that had been destroy during the fires.
